UI/UX Design

Software people understand on first use.

Research, journeys, prototypes and design systems that make complex business software feel simple.

UI/UX Design at INTELLIA, in brief

INTELLIA's UI/UX design service covers user research, journey mapping, information architecture, interactive prototypes, visual design and design systems for web, mobile and enterprise applications. Designs are tested with real users before development, and delivered as reusable components and tokens so engineering builds faster and the product stays consistent.

Adoption fails long before launch

Enterprise software is often designed around the database rather than the people using it. The result is long training sessions, workarounds and staff quietly returning to spreadsheets. Poor UX also inflates development cost, because unclear screens are rebuilt after launch.

  • Screens that mirror database tables instead of tasks
  • Inconsistent components across modules and apps
  • No testing with real users until after launch
  • Accessibility ignored, excluding users and creating legal risk

Capabilities

What our UI/UX Design team delivers

  • User research

Interviews, contextual observation and analytics review to understand real tasks and pain points.

  • Journeys and information architecture

Task flows, navigation structure and content hierarchy for complex systems.

  • Interactive prototyping

Clickable prototypes to validate ideas with users and stakeholders before code.

  • Visual and interface design

Clean, accessible interfaces for web, mobile and dashboards, consistent with your brand.

  • Design systems

Tokens, components and documentation shared by design and engineering.

  • Usability and accessibility testing

Moderated tests, heuristic reviews and WCAG 2.2 AA audits with prioritized fixes.

Our approach

How a typical engagement runs

  1. 1

    Understand

Research with users and stakeholders, plus a review of existing systems and data.

  2. 2

    Frame

Personas, key tasks and success measures agreed with the team.

  3. 3

    Explore

Sketches and low-fidelity flows to compare approaches quickly.

  4. 4

    Prototype and test

High-fidelity prototypes tested with five to eight users per round.

  5. 5

    Systematize and hand off

Design system, annotated specifications and support during development.

Why UX matters more in enterprise software than consumer apps

Consumer apps lose users who are confused. Enterprise systems keep them, and the cost shows up instead as training time, data-entry errors, support tickets and workarounds. A clearer screen that saves a clerk thirty seconds per transaction, multiplied by thousands of transactions a month, is often worth more than a new feature.

How we design for complex systems

  • Task-first navigation. Menus organized around what people do, not around modules.
  • Progressive disclosure. Show what is needed for the common case; reveal advanced options on demand.
  • Clear status. Every record shows where it is in its workflow and what happens next.
  • Forgiving forms. Inline validation, sensible defaults and drafts that save automatically.
  • Consistent components. One way to filter a table, one way to approve a request, across every module.

Design and build together

Design rarely works in isolation. Our designers work in the same sprints as our web and mobile engineers, and every INTELLIA product, from CX Hub to LMS, shares a common design system.

Pricing and engagement

How we work together

Design can be engaged on its own or as part of a build. Standalone UX audits are a fast way to find what is hurting adoption in an existing system.

  • UX audit

Best for: Existing products with adoption problems

Heuristic review, analytics review and a short usability study with a prioritized fix list.

  • Product design phase

    Best for: New products

Research through tested prototype, ready for development.

  • Embedded designer

    Best for: Teams building continuously

A product designer working inside your sprint team monthly.

We do not publish fixed prices because scope drives cost. Every proposal states assumptions, inclusions and exclusions.

FAQ

UI/UX Design: common questions

What is the difference between UI and UX design?

UX (user experience) design is about how a product works: tasks, flows, structure and whether people can achieve their goals. UI (user interface) design is how it looks and feels: layout, typography, color and components. Good products need both.

Do you test designs with real users?

Yes. We test prototypes with five to eight representative users per round, which reliably surfaces the most important usability problems before development starts.

Can you redesign an existing system without rebuilding it?

Often, yes. We can redesign the front end in phases on top of existing APIs, starting with the screens that cause the most errors or support calls.

What do developers receive at handoff?

Figma files with components and auto-layout, design tokens, annotated interaction specs, accessibility notes and, where agreed, coded components in Storybook.

Do your designs meet accessibility standards?

We design to WCAG 2.2 AA: color contrast, keyboard access, focus visibility, readable type sizes, clear labels and error messages, and test with automated and manual checks.
